LS Lowry

LS Lowry

LS Lowry was known for his vivid depictions of the northern industrial landscapes of the 20th century, recognised as one of ‘the’ most influential and important artists of his generation. His stylised depiction of coal mines, factories and terrace houses were evoked  perfectly the look and feel of the time, inspiring a generation of painters through his work.

Lowry’s popular appeal and public recognition came late in his life, with his paintings and sketches having/continuing to sell for millions throughout the world. With his considerable output-including coastal scenes, landscapes and figure studies-LS Lowry’s work is-to this day-still being unearthed-much to the delight of art aficionados and those lucky enough to be in possession of a Lowry painting.

LS Lowry’s distinctive and comprehensive record of the pre and post World War Two industrial North had inspired, defined and shaped the very essence of British artistic culture; recognised by artists and collectors alike, as one of ‘the’ most important contributors to the British art scene, with a cultural legacy that still lives on today.
